What measurements matter before ordering bucket teeth or adapters?
Bucket teeth and adapters can look similar while using different pin systems, pocket sizes, and adapter nose shapes. A few measurements and photos can prevent the wrong tooth from being ordered and reduce downtime when a machine is already working hard.
If the part number is missing or unreadable, photos and measurements become the best way to narrow the match.
Start with any visible numbers
Look for casting numbers, stamped numbers, or markings on the tooth, adapter, pin, and retainer. Clean the part first if needed. Even a partial number can help when combined with photos and measurements.
Measurements that matter
- Width of the adapter nose or pocket.
- Tooth opening width and height.
- Overall tooth length.
- Pin diameter and pin length.
- Distance between pin holes, if visible.
- Bucket width and number of teeth on the bucket.
Photos CSC should see
Send photos from the top, side, front, and underside. If possible, include one photo of the tooth off the adapter and one photo of the adapter still attached to the bucket. The adapter photo helps confirm whether the issue is only the tooth or whether the adapter, pin, or retainer should be checked too.
When adapters or retainers should be reviewed
If the tooth keeps coming loose, the pin hole is wallowed out, or the adapter nose is worn thin, replacing only the tooth may not solve the problem. In those cases, CSC should review the adapter and retainer condition before you order replacement teeth.
Next step
Send part numbers, measurements, and photos before ordering. CSC can help review the tooth system and point the request toward the right replacement path.
